Pete, when I agreed that the purchase of a minibus for sanctioned student outings would be a good idea, intrinsic to that agreement was the understanding that the minibus would not be used to ferry back to the school several tipsy, undisciplined, projecting teenage minds.

I am sure there are a number of clubs in the area that are either alcohol-free or assiduous in their carding procedures, and I would prefer that the official outings, if they include minors, take place at those establishments.

While it is perhaps too far past the incident in question to go this route - has anyone considered telling those students who drank that they are -not- going out the next time?

It is, perhaps unfair to restrict those students who did follow the rules for the sake of those who feel it is necessary to thwart them.

They're going to find ways to drink underage no matter what we do. So long as they're discreet about it, and don't cause problems/act like idiots, I'm happy for them to be normal teenagers, although we don't have to tell *them* that, hence the not allowing them to go anywhere that serves booze, next time out.

So, yeah, the thought had occured, but I figure that it's not like any of them got utterly wrecked and started fights, or was sick in the back of the bus, or anything completely stupid, after all, so it doesn't really merit being that harsh, and also, it might encourage their peers to police them a bit better next time. If it happens again, we can look at something harsher directed only at the offenders, although if they keep it at that level they managed the other night, it's going to be hard to tell who's been drinking without either a telepath or a breathalyser, because while I could smell the booze, I couldn't tell you who had and hadn't been drinking with any certainty.
