Okay, I know this isn't the best ethical medical policy, and I'll be going to confession on Sunday expecting to get a nice heavy penance (once the priest stops the hysterical laughter, that is), but um... IkindasortadruggedAli.

She was on what looked to be her third night without sleep, and Hank's left plenty of notes on her file in red ink about how she gets when she's on the no-sleep kick. And after having Scott go through meltdown, well, it was poetic justice, really. So she's sleeping, and will be for about the next twelve hours. Besides, she did _ask_ me to give her something to help her sleep, she just didn't say _when_.

Moira, Nate, you up for getting Miles breakfasted and explain to him that Mommy's sleeping for a while because she's been very busy? Don't mention the part where Mommy's a stupidhead for not coming to us of her own accord for help sleeping, by the way. Cain, you up for Miles-sitting during the rest of the day, and possibly the evening? From her files, Ali tends to crash hard anyway when her body slows down long enough, so it could be she won't be up until tomorrow morning. I'd take him on myself but there's a) medlab and b) medlab and c) classes. If it's a problem, then I'm sure we'll have plenty of volunteers to keep an eye on him.

Oh, and as for our Fearless Leader *waves to the nice Captain* Scott's up and about again and looking much better for his nap. So neener.

And I hope you all take this as a warning. No sleep derivation psychosis on my watch. Not when I have my handy tranq gun. *pats it lovingly*

She wouldn't drink the coffee! I had it all ready and she turned it down! The tranq gun was a last resort, honestly - I wasn't about to pounce on her and stab her with a hypodermic. She would have lasered my ass.

Can you take Dance today, Kurt? She doesn't have any other classes today except that, and I don't really want to announce to the kids that I'm shooting staff with tranq darts. Although, hey, it'd help discipline, wouldn't it?

Of course. I am sure I can come up with a reasonable excuse for her absence. Illness, if nothing else.

Just nothing that'll have them tapping at her door with chicken soup, or coming down here to sit with her. Because total unconsciousness and drooling (yes, she's drooling, it's actually kind of cute) tends to wig out students.

Of the medlab helpers, Amanda and Rahne I am sure would understand if you explain the simple truth. Clarice, I am less sure... do you need all three of them today?

Clarice kept quiet about Scott - mostly. She should be fine. It's more I'm worried about what they'll think about me running mad with a tranq gun, shooting down the staff. Not exactly good mentor behaviour.

Ah well, I'll just tell them they've got the day off medlab. I doubt Amanda's up for it any way, to read her journal. I hope someone's keeping an eye on her.

I think all the children are under a great deal of stress at the moment. As we can see from the number of arguments that have already occurred - the fault lines are starting to appear...

Yes, time for damage control, I think? We need to find some way of reminding the kids this place isn't all about disasters and near-death experiences. And the trust issue is still popping up - we really need to develop some sort of policy on information disclosure so the kids don't feel we're bullshitting them, but so we don't scare the crap out of them either. I know some of our colleagues would disagree with me on the need to disclose any information, but as the kids - and not just the troublemakers, smart kids, like Kitty - point out, we can't expect them to trust us if we clearly don't grant them at least a small degree of the same respect.

Damage control would be a very good thing, at this point - or at the very least, when things have settled down from this most recent crisis, assuming we get that luxury.

A policy would also be a good idea, but as you say, it is difficult to know where to draw the line. On the Gambit issue, I feel they have been told all they need to know - the man is dangerous and they should not go near him. Others might disagree, however.

Problem with waiting until a good time is that there's never a good time. I think maybe we should be working on some sort of group thing - a field trip, a party, _anything_ - to get the kids' minds off doom and gloom adn demons and the rest of it.

That is a very good idea, and I think it should be sooner rather than later. It is too late for a trip to the amusement park, I suppose?

Probably - the weather's being blowing up lately, in a nice, fall-like, non-explosive manner, I mean. There's got to be something else, though, that we can take a large group of mixed-age kids to and not have any disasters?

You would think so. Perhaps a movie, if we could find one that would suit them all, or a show in New York?
