There was an incident at the fair with Terry and one of the ~~Hitler~~ FoH Youth morons we're all coming to know and love so very well. Incident. I love my own euphemisms at times. This particular charming specimen of baseline humanity decided he wanted to beat on the little mutant girl. Thankfully he didn't get very far.

Terry's a bit bruised, but she'll be fine; I sent her down to medlab to get checked over just to make sure. Bobby got there a minute or two before I did and used his powers to put a stop to things, then got Terry back to the car while I handled the little shit and his friend. No, I did not do anything to them, but I was sorely tempted.

The rest of the kids are fine - they were a bit disgruntled that the day ended early but I thought it was better to get everyone rounded up and safely home. No property damage, either, and I made sure no one noticed what happened. All in all it was a very quiet and intimate almost-hate-crime.

These two FoH kids... I feel like my brain needs a shower. I swear one of them had the basic intelligence level of a toaster. Both of them were nauseating. Hateful, twisted, sad little minds with all the ethical maturity of three year-olds.

I do not know the law, but is there nothing we can do in the interest of justice? Or at least to prevent them from venting their hatred on the next innocent they target?

Hell, I'm fully in favor of filing a complaint. Even given the attitude of the police and how unlikely it is that any action would be taken.

What does such a complaint require?

And . . . perhaps I am thinking wrongly, but was this not a "state" event, and would not therefore the state authorities have it in their charge? Surely they cannot be as corrupt as our local police force.

You know what? I'm bloody sick of the excuses for police officers we have around here.

You know, I think I might join you. I've been hitting far too many walls in my digging around trying to find out what's going on, and I think it's time to be a little less subtle.

If either of you would like a newly qualified lawyer along to murmur phrases like 'potential civil lawsuit' at appropriate intervals, I'm game.

Internal Investigations has apparently given the local PD an all-clear, but the fact they were involved at all indicates something is definitely rotten in the state of Salem Center. I sense a cover-up. And I think a lawyer would be just the thing to get some squirming happening. I'll show you both what I have of various incidents, like the CoffeeQuake fire, in the car.

If we really need the heavy end of the hammer, the district rep owes me a favor, but between the three of you I doubt we would. I certainly hope not, or there's something far more than rotten in the state of Salem Center.

All of our field trips end in disaster sooner or later, trust me. It's just a matter of how much fun and educational value the kids get out of them before the disaster that makes them worth it.

Terry's doing all right. A lot of bruises, and she'll be sore for a couple of days, but thankfully there wasn't anything much more serious than that. She's fairly shaken up, though, poor kid.

Also, I applaud you for not giving into temptation. I'm not sure I would have had the restraint.
