...and yes, I have lost what's left of my mind.
One of my rare pleasant secrets (although Moira knows about this, just like she knows most of my unpleasant ones by now) is that I've been an avid climber for a number of years now. I've done lots of rock climbing, some ice climbing, and a few mountains. (I actually soloed K2 with no oxygen, and yes, this is me bragging.)
Anyhow, I had a point around here somewhere... right. There's actually a lot of decent and not-too-difficult rock climbing here in New England. If any of the kids are interested, it might be a unique experience for them. Good exercise, if nothing else, and a good lesson in having to depend on a partner.
So, thoughts? I'd ease them into it, of course, make sure they had proper training and so forth before I let them anywhere near the side of a cliff. Certainly, this would have to be limited to those mature and sensible enough to take me seriously when I tell them how to avoid cratering. And we'd need to buy some proper equipment...
