In the club

Fellow staff, I thought I'd better inform you; there's going to be a little induction ceremony for the Hellfire Club at Selene's place upstate on the weekend. Shinobi and Manuel will both be exercising their familial rights to membership at this ceremony, and in order to keep them on the straight and narrow, they'll both be participating in my White Court, rather than in the Black Court of their fathers.

Some of you may have your reservations about the club, I'm sure, and I share your concerns, of course. It was a member of this club that destroyed my own school. It was another member who abducted me from my home and tortured and abused me. It is exactly because of men like these that I have chosen to remain with the club throughout this. That way, we can still play these people at their own games, and hopefully ensure that the Hellfire Club is no longer a threat.

If any of you have concerns, I'll be happy to discuss them with you, either here or in person. You should also know, a few members of the staff and the student body will be joining us at the party, though invitations are restricted. Shinobi and Manuel will both bring guests, as will I, and I'm working to secure a few extra invitations, so that a few more faculty can attend. Marie, your name was mentioned, and Jake, I thought you might like to accompany me for the evening.

Seems to be the week for high-society parties. Out of curiosity, does this mean we'll be expected to host some kind of soiree in the future? We aren't really set up for it.

Absolutely not, Cain. If I need to entertain, I can hire a place in the city. I wouldn't dream of deluging Westchester with those sorts of people.

Besides, I'm well aware of the school's limitations. Even if I were having a small dinner party, I could hardly seat my guests in the faculty kitchen, then invite them into the laundry room for brandy and cigars. For such a large and historic mansion house, it's a little unconventional in its facilities.

What's now the big classroom that Ms. Munroe uses used to be the grand solarium - was quite the place for those big society galas. The main ballroom's been converted into the first floor classrooms, as well as the dorm rooms above them. What's now the "main" ballroom used to just be a room for chamber music. The baby grand that's currently in the lounge room used to go in there.

You could still do a pretty decent shindig here, if we locked all the kids in their rooms.

Whatever the Hellfire Club may be. It is a necessary in the present climate of our world. And I believe having allies within its' ranks will prove useful to us in the future.

And before you challenge my right to speak, my family has had membership within the club for many, many a year. So, I do believe, I am one ably qualified to talk on its' behalf.

I, for one, trust Emma in her ability to control those more unruly members. She has a certain charm that cannot be denied.
