Amanda

This afternoon there was an incident in the medlab which I think needs our attention asap. Regarding our resident Sabrina.

I've just been down in the medlab running check ups on Moira, Hank, Jean and Clarice, as well as Tommy and Haroun. Remy was brought in today in a critical condition, and during the course of his treatment Amanda pulled her magic healing trick. After freezing the staff to the spot so they couldn't stop her since it was way too much damage for her to heal. She didn't have nearly enough power to do it, so she used what was available.

The people around her.

I don't profess to even begin to understand what Amanda does half the time, but as far as I can tell, and Moira might back me up here, she's somehow drawn on the energy of the people around her. Moira, Hank, Jean. Clarice and Tommy all experienced momentary weakness, dizziness and fatigue. Haroun wasn't effected, so I'm guessing the cyberware got in the way. And from looking at the journals, Manuel was effected too.

Remy's in a serious condition, but stable.

I can't even begin to explain how furious I am. Amanda's shown callous disregard for the safety of the medical staff and the patients in medlab, plus her own boyfriend. If there was any way to make the charges stick, I'd have her charged with assault, but given that that's not an option, we need to address this ourselves. I don't think the other doctors will argue with me if I suggest a ban from medlab, for the safety of all concerned, but she needs to understand she can't go around doing this sort of thing, no matter what the reason.

Maybe I'm biased...

Because it was only by the grace of the new cybernetics that she didn't trade my life for Remy's.

Grounding her is not the answer. You ask me, she belongs in a cage. Slap her in irons, put the collar on her neck, and find a deep dark hole to stuff her into while the rest of us discuss what to do with her. We can't justify the risk of letting her out among the student body.

We're not qualified - none of us are - to contain a threat like her. I can't guard her - I can't even walk. Cain's got better things to do than ride herd on a little girl 24/7. Rest of us are vulnerable to this new little trick she's discovered.

Anyone think we can get a line out to her old tutor? Dump her on his lap.

We have been attacked.

Haroun

I am uncertain I should be involved in this debate. On the one hand, I am Amanda's legal guardian in America. On the other, I am her brother, and though I would try, I cannot be sure I would not be biased in her favour.

A question for you, Herr Wagner

Doesn't your Book have some things to say about murder? And about responsibility?

Haroun

Amanda has not committed murder. She has saved a life. If we are to judge on what could have been, then many here should also be judged on what was, more than they are.

And it's just a question of time, if she's using life-force to fuel her ability not, and not ambient magic.

You want that risk on your conscience? I don't.

Haroun

It seems to me that the circumstances tonight were exceptional. There are those here who have received forgiveness for actions done with less justification.

Maybe.

But not from me. The risk is too high, the potential reward too low.

I applaud your determination to be forgiving, but for a guy who carves his sins into his flesh with a blade you're being awfully forgiving.

I vote for the deep dark hole. I wish it could be otherwise, but I don't think it can be.

Salaam,
Haroun

Perhaps because it seems clear few others will be. And the Book teaches forgiveness of others. My ways of atoning for my own sins are my own.

I am leaving the computer now.

The Book teaches many things.

I am not certain it can give us a clear cut path on this case. But then again, I doubt it gives a clear cut path on anything, really.

I know what she has done, please do not think I'm being blind on this.

But she is my sister.

But if I ever see her in the medlab again I will throw her out myself, and if there are any walls in the way that will be too bad.

I'll be good.

If I'm one of those you're talking about.

I can do Physio in the Gym. Don't let me factor into your decisions.

Medical is _your_ domain. Run it as you see fit.

Because we don't need to get into it right now.

Not after what happened.

Short handed we can deal with, we've done it before. The only one I'm really concerned about is Remy. Considering his condition, I'd rather that someone with some medical training be watching over him. If not, we'll make do.

For right now, I say revoke her access until we can speak with her.

Sometimes the ends don't justify the means, but we have to take a step back and attempt to figure out if this is one of those times or not.

Maybe it's finally time that she left us. She's been warned before, has she not? She consistently disregards punishment, which in my opinion have never been severe enough. For everyone's safety, including her own, she should find a new place to live.

And if she's kick her out of the mansion, then we have to take a look at our other resident in the Medlab as well. As of right now, we know he's responsible for arson and other malicious intent.

I am not saying I am not mad. I am. My child could have been down stairs and the very thought makes me sick.

I have also been responsible for helping her train with her abilities, especially since Stephen has left. Obviously, she's been hiding this from us.

To be completely honest, I don't know what to do with her anymore.

I...cannot give much of an opinion on this. I too, am biased, though slightly in a different light. Her former tutor was my former boyfriend, so...

I wish I could get in touch with Stephen, that might make things a lot easier.

You ask me, I say once a junkie - always a junkie. She fooled a lot of folks into thinking she'd kicked the habit. She ain't. As prior victim #1, I say if that teacher of hers or that sister of Wisdom's can't lock her up? I'm with the Arab. Put her down.

You were a cop. Junkie comes at you with a deadly weapon, you don't stop and try and rehabilitate them. You take them down hard.

She can't be trusted. Does anyone even know where she is now? Could be out sucking the life out of bums for kicks. Could be getting high off a Girl Scout troop. Lives could be at stake, no taking chances. What she did for Remy, what she did for me - this don't give her a license to kill, and she came damn close from what I hear.

I'll be sitting on the medlab door until someone gives me word she's brought in and locked away.

Point of order...

But only a small one.

I'm a Beber Moor. I'm _not_ an Arab.

But yeah. I think we're in agreement about everything else. I don't think that the Dirt Nap is warranted (yet), but incarcerated in iso with no contact is a good start.

Haroun

As I understand it, Cain, she could not help absorbing power from you, when she was first here.

That is not a relevant issue in this case.

Until we get a clear notion of what was going in her head regarding what happened and how it happened as well as what her thoughts on the matter are now, I would recommend the following steps:

- no more access to any medical facilities unless she is in need of medical care
- no unsurpervised contact with any of the children or babies in the mansion
- no trips outside the mansion without adult, trained staff to accompany her

Furthermore, we might consider the basic option of keeping her confined to her room other than for classes and other similar matters where she will in fact always be supervised by a member of the staff.

I expect Charles will be wanting to speak to her, as well.
