No. Sarah is not to be allowed to be alone with Miles. Melodrama aside, this is my decision and a request I made to the Professor, who has decided to honor it.
Actions have consequences. I will not allow an avowed killer who publicly stated that she enjoyed watching the look on her victims' faces as they died, feels no remorse over what she did and intends to do it again to be left alone with him.
Right now, this is not negotiable.
Whether this changes or not, however, is something that remains to be seen.

You're his mother...

Date: 2004-07-20 09:38 pm (UTC)You're right, Alison. It takes alot to be so angry, but what matters more is our level of patience.
I probably have no right in saying this and I accept that. But, you must know that if you take the last of her family away from her, we might lose her.

Date: 2004-07-20 09:42 pm (UTC)I am not taking away her family from her. I am asking that there be someone in attendance when she sees Miles. Considering most people who admit to enjoying killing end up in an institute for the criminally insane, she's getting off well.
Impatience on my part would have been insisting she be locked up and the key thrown away. Instead, I gave this a lot of thought and reached for the solution that still gave her room to do something. What she does is up to her.
Right.
Date: 2004-07-20 09:59 pm (UTC)I don't have the strength in me to pursue this tonight. But, I still believe tht this will have negative repercussions for all those involved.

Date: 2004-07-20 09:47 pm (UTC)I don't think we'd have to worry about losing her unless they're completely taken away, and no explanation is offered, though. I know she's very upset that she can't be alone with her family right now, but if someone makes the effort to explain to her that it's a temporary measure, why it's being done, and how she can regain the boys' respective guardians' trust to the point where she can be with them again..
We've already seen Sarah fight for her family, once. There's little doubt in my mind that she'd be willing to work towards being with Artie and Miles again, but she needs to be told what she can do to make it happen. She's flying blind, here.
Maybe have someone on staff she likes (or at least tolerates) talk to her on it? Betsy? Pete?
Out of curiousity.. who counts as not-alone-with, in regards to her and the boys? Ali, I know I asked you back in.. what, January, that I not be left alone with Miles, so I don't think I'd count for him.. but would I count with Artie?

Date: 2004-07-20 10:20 pm (UTC)It sucks, but the pattern is there and it's hard to get around that.
I've thought about this a lot. Telling her what to do? Is evading the real issue. She needs to determine for herself what she needs to do. No one can tell her this or direct her in this. Do you see what I'm getting at? It wouldn't be fair for me to tell her what to do, to set rules. She has to find her way in this... rules imposed on her would only make her more resentful. Rules imposed on her would ultimately change nothing.
Sarah is her own worst ennemy. She is, also, her own salvation. The way I see it this was inevitable. Where we go from here relies on her and how she can work this out.
If I didn't think she truly loved the boys and would never be able to grow, I would have asked for a full block down. In a heartbeat.
I asked for Cain in that regard. Should Sarah wish to make suggestions, I'm open to that. As for you - I think you would be best to answer that question, really. Do you think so? Keeping in mind Artie and Miles are likely to want to see her together, since they tend to do most anything together?

Date: 2004-07-20 10:32 pm (UTC)As for the supervision thing.. if they wanted to go together... I'm honestly not sure. While I'm not concerned about what I was when I asked that I not be alone with Miles any more (thank you, Doctor Samson), I can't speak for your concerns on the matter. So, I'll leave that up to you. If, for some reason, Artie wanted to go down and visit her without Miles, though.. I would like to think I can handle that.
Then again, my involvement in this matter doesn't leave me with a terribly lovely track record, either. So, in both instances, I think I'll leave it up to the respective guardians to decide, and I'll respect whatever judgement comes from it.
