Well. This week seems to be the one for total disclosures, huh?
Here's another for you all...
I spoke to Illyana following Amanda's email to the staff about her. With her permission, I'm giving you a rough outline of what happened to her while she was in Limbo.
When she was taken by Belasco, it was for a purpose - in short, he was planning to sacrifice her to the Elder Gods (sounds familiar, anyone?), using her as a vessel to summon them up. Only to do that, he needed to corrupt her soul via a series of five rituals. Apparently soul corrupting takes time and tends to drive the target insane. Illyana was his third try at the ritual, the first time with someone so young. He managed to get three out of the five rituals needed done to corrupt her soul, while she was in Limbo. He didn't manage to complete the ritual. She is not a demon. Throughout the years she was there she had some help, from some apparently more kindly inclined people living in the place. All of them were killed by Belasco for helping her. In the process though they seemed to have slowed down Belasco's work as well as imprinting an influence of their own on Illyana. A beneficial one at that. Belasco's teachings while he held her captive were purely theory - she's not a demon, she can't use demonic magic. But the other teachings she received however were more than theory and were based on good magic, simply put. That's where her soul sword is from, which is the result of something Illyana called 'creation magic'. The sword cuts through magic and kills demons. It has no effect on people. I asked her to swing it through my arm so I'd have tangible proof for you all, which she did. Not a mark on me.
Right. Eventually she managed to oust Belasco from his 'rulership' of Limbo, but killing him would have meant turning into a demon herself. So instead she stripped him of his power and whatever link he had to the Elder Gods and banished him. (Note: He's still out there. I doubt he's pleased with the turn of events. Just saying.) And yes, this whole outing Belasco process makes her the Queen of Limbo, apparently. The attack on the school was a... I can't believe I'm putting it that way. A misunderstanding. Apparently the demons didn't realize that there was more than one way she could kick their asses and she underestimated how dumb they were. Things are back under control there now.
There you go. The short version. And yeah, there's a lot I'm not telling you where the details are concerned but - you don't need to know them, not to this extent. You've got the important and relevant stuff here already. If you want to talk to her about it yourselves I'd appreciate you wait a few days to allow her to regain her balance and then I'd highly recommend you simply email her politely about it. And not push if she says no or asks you to jump off a bridge.
Ah. Yes. When she'll be in shape for it, I've asked her to show me Limbo. We'll... see when and where that goes, when the time comes.
So yeah. That's it. I'll answer what questions I can.

Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:05 am (UTC)That... makes sense. Of a crazy, magic-related sort. Including Amanda's extreme reaction to the whole thing - I have no idea if she knows any of this particularly, or whether it's just a common theme, the soul corruption thing, but considering the two stories... no wonder she freaked.
As long as it doesn't result in any more people in medlab, I'm willing to leave this one in the hands of those with a better grip on this stuff.
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:10 am (UTC)Well, yeah. The whole being sacrificed to the Elder Gods bit too might have something to do with it. And other stuff. Gah. I've been saying 'gah' a lot lately, y'know?
I may have to talk to this Strange fellow Amanda mentioned. Gah. (There I go again.)
I have a short giggling green boy to track down and tickle to death, but d'you fancy some waffles while I do the searching? I can bring them down and then make sure he's not hiding around in the medlab before wandering off on my search.
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:18 am (UTC)Have fun with the wacky magic types. ;)
And waffles would be wonderful. Another late night for me I'm afraid, and I'm starving.
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:22 am (UTC)Good thing I like rabbits. Ha.
Waffles. Fruit on the side I think because woman does not subsist on sugar alone. Great big glass of orange juice. You know, I'm going to be the one shooting you in the butt with a tranq gun soon at this rate.
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 05:17 pm (UTC)Easy on the rabbit jokes - magic user types tend to be touchy about them, for some reason. *grins*
My hero. Seriously. Although this last late night? Your fault. I got dragged out of bed for an emergency procedure by a certain person. :P
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 05:21 pm (UTC)Rabbits are cute and fluffy. Whever would anyone be touchy about 'em?
Hrm. Fancy that. I'd say oops, only well... no. *grin* Will owe you more waffles or something?
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 05:26 pm (UTC)It's the whole rabbits out of hats thing. Be like you being asked to perform kareoke all the time, I'm guessing...
I'm teaching you to use the damn filter, I swear... Then you can clean up your own mess. :P
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 05:29 pm (UTC)No one asks me to perform Karaoke. It has to do with them wanting to keep their spleens intact, I'd say. ;)
Yes, ma'am. Might be counter-productive though. *la la la*
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 05:37 pm (UTC)My point exactly. Although with magic users it's more people wanting to keep their shapes intact rather than their spleens... ;)
You have a point there. *sighs* How about a nice burkah?
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 05:41 pm (UTC)Froggy Jake! I think I still have pictures of that! Hee!
Hrm. And nothing else? ;)
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:18 pm (UTC)It was awful to laugh at the time, but... *snickers* It _was_ funny. Poor Jake.
*sighs* *clears a spot in her appointment book* *waits*
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:21 pm (UTC)He took to it well. Very nice frog legs there too. ;)
*grins* So. When d'you want me?
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:41 pm (UTC)I could make a joke about Jake's frog legs and the French, only I fear Angie's wrath..
When there's a patient. Which should be any minute now, I'm guessing.
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 06:48 pm (UTC)She's not reading this. Joke away! :D
So d'you want me to go down now?
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 07:20 pm (UTC)You're a horrible woman. Luckily I have to take off now, so there will be no killing. ;P
Re: Full Disclosures...
Date: 2004-10-27 07:24 pm (UTC)Besides. That'd mean no more waffles, too. ;)

Date: 2004-10-27 06:39 am (UTC)Powerless though he is, do you think it likely he will come for Illyana again? Does she?

Date: 2004-10-27 06:44 am (UTC)...do you have any people you could talk to to get information on this kind of stuff, actually?
no subject
Date: 2004-10-27 06:54 am (UTC)All those I knew with that knowledge are dead now, and some worse than dead; in extreme need, I suppose it is not out of the question that I could hunt down one of Necrom's remaining cultists and extract what information could be had from them, but I doubt it would be a productive conversation. Amanda has invited me to speak with her mentor as well, and I think that is the best option available to us for now.
