Well. This week seems to be the one for total disclosures, huh?
Here's another for you all...
I spoke to Illyana following Amanda's email to the staff about her. With her permission, I'm giving you a rough outline of what happened to her while she was in Limbo.
When she was taken by Belasco, it was for a purpose - in short, he was planning to sacrifice her to the Elder Gods (sounds familiar, anyone?), using her as a vessel to summon them up. Only to do that, he needed to corrupt her soul via a series of five rituals. Apparently soul corrupting takes time and tends to drive the target insane. Illyana was his third try at the ritual, the first time with someone so young. He managed to get three out of the five rituals needed done to corrupt her soul, while she was in Limbo. He didn't manage to complete the ritual. She is not a demon. Throughout the years she was there she had some help, from some apparently more kindly inclined people living in the place. All of them were killed by Belasco for helping her. In the process though they seemed to have slowed down Belasco's work as well as imprinting an influence of their own on Illyana. A beneficial one at that. Belasco's teachings while he held her captive were purely theory - she's not a demon, she can't use demonic magic. But the other teachings she received however were more than theory and were based on good magic, simply put. That's where her soul sword is from, which is the result of something Illyana called 'creation magic'. The sword cuts through magic and kills demons. It has no effect on people. I asked her to swing it through my arm so I'd have tangible proof for you all, which she did. Not a mark on me.
Right. Eventually she managed to oust Belasco from his 'rulership' of Limbo, but killing him would have meant turning into a demon herself. So instead she stripped him of his power and whatever link he had to the Elder Gods and banished him. (Note: He's still out there. I doubt he's pleased with the turn of events. Just saying.) And yes, this whole outing Belasco process makes her the Queen of Limbo, apparently. The attack on the school was a... I can't believe I'm putting it that way. A misunderstanding. Apparently the demons didn't realize that there was more than one way she could kick their asses and she underestimated how dumb they were. Things are back under control there now.
There you go. The short version. And yeah, there's a lot I'm not telling you where the details are concerned but - you don't need to know them, not to this extent. You've got the important and relevant stuff here already. If you want to talk to her about it yourselves I'd appreciate you wait a few days to allow her to regain her balance and then I'd highly recommend you simply email her politely about it. And not push if she says no or asks you to jump off a bridge.
Ah. Yes. When she'll be in shape for it, I've asked her to show me Limbo. We'll... see when and where that goes, when the time comes.
So yeah. That's it. I'll answer what questions I can.
